If you like good hiking and beautiful views as bonus, take a trip to the hill of Veľká Homola, which rises above the town of Modra.
The lookout tower is built in a modern style and was named after the former forest manager Alexander Filípek, who not only took care of the forests, but also helped to develop tourism and travel movement.
The lookout tower is really high, the top viewing platform rises up to 20.4 meters. 120 steps lead to the top. If you overcome them, you will be offered with a vast and beautiful view not only of the surrounding Little Carpathians, but also of the Danube Lowland, the White Carpathians, Považský Inovec, Tribeč, Strážovské Mountains, Vtáčnik, Greater Fatra, Pohronský Inovec, Eastern Alps in Austria, Pavlov Hills and Chřiby in Moravia.
Under the shelter, you can relax and then take a way back, or you can continue to discover the natural beauty towards the rocky formation called Traja jazdci (Three rangers), Kamenné vráta Hill, ski-centre Pezinská Baba or Zámčisko Hill.
The lookout tower of Alexander Filípek is accessible via the red marked tourist trail from the bus stop at Zochova chata (Zoch´s cottage, about 2.5 km), from Modra along blue marked trail and from Pezinok along the red one (or later green).
