The beautiful environment of Liptov attracts crowds of tourists and hikers from different parts of Slovakia and abroad every year. It can boast of not only beautiful nature, but a wide range of historical monuments too. One of them is the wooden articular evangelical church, which stands on the border of the villages of Svätý Kríž and Lazisko.
This admirable sacral building is one of the largest wooden buildings in Central Europe. The temple was transferred to this place from the flooded village of Paludza in 1974-1982. Its ground plan is 43 meters long and has the shape of a cross. The capacity of the indoor space is up to 6,000 visitors.
The interior of this temple, which is decorated with wooden baroque furnishings, is particularly charming. Every visitor will be attracted at first sight by a wooden baroque altar from 1693 with a painting of the Transfiguration of Christ as well as a pulpit. Part of the articular church is a freestanding wooden tower serving as a bell tower.
The temple is open to visitors seasonally and the visiting hours can be found on the church website.
