The village of Nezbudská Lúčka is known for its richest occurrence of natural asphalt and the only quarry in its digging in Europe. However, this village also has another rarity and attraction that allures many tourists and passers-by every year. It is an asphalt lake.
The lake was formed by the gradual deepening of the quarry and its natural flooding. At present, the lake reaches considerable depth and divers also found a World War II grenade on its bottom. Therefore, swimming and bathing in this lake is prohibited. However, the location is very popular with fishermen.
During hot days, it is possible to observe slowly flowing natural asphalt of black to black-grey colour on the rock walls of the quarry. In the vicinity of the asphalt lake, it is possible to observe objects reminiscent of former mining - the structure of the building for the processing of asphalt, the ripped track or the chapel of St. Barbara.
The area of the asphalt lake is a pleasant and popular walking spot. The asphalt lake is located on the outskirts of the village of Nezbudská Lúčka. It can be easily accessed by car.
