Belianska Cave can boast of a few superlatives. Not only is it the most visited cave and** one of the first caves in Europe, where electric lighting has been introduced*, but it is also *the largest and only accessible alpine stalagmitic cave in the Tatra National Park.
It is located near the village of Tatranská Kotlina, in the easternmost part of the Belianske Tatras, in the high mountain karst terrain. The entrance to the cave is situated on the northern slope of Kobylí Hill, at 890 m above sea level.
The cave premises were known already in the 18th century by treasure hunters who left here precious inscriptions on the walls. It was made open for public in 1882 and electrically illuminated in 1896.
Belianska Cave is full of bizarre rock shapes as well as rich calcite and sinter decoration. Especially the beautiful sinter waterfalls, pagoda-like stalagmites and lakes leave every visitor in awe.
The charming Music Hall, which has been named after the sound of falling water drops on the lake surface, is also exceptional. This hall has excellent acoustic conditions, which is why music concerts of classical music are organized here too.
1,370 meters of trails with 860 steps and an elevation of 125 meters are available for visitors. The tour takes 75 minutes.
