
The Orava village of Podbiel is set in a real fairy-tale environment. And this unique magical atmosphere is enhanced by the interesting natural phenomenon that rises above it. It is Bielska Rock.
Bielska Rock is a national nature reserve in the village of Podbiel in the Tvrdošín district. It is located in Oravská Upland. It represents a chalk limestone cliff, on the top of which there was a prehistoric hillfort once. The site was used for a short time as a fortress in the 15th century.
If you come to this place to visit, do not expect a lot of tourists here, as Bielska Rock is less visited tourist destination. Nevertheless, you will have more space to enjoy it. On the path to this natural beauty, you will be accompanied by a divine silence interrupted only by the singing of birds.
As your steps get closer to the sky, your lungs will be filled with gulps of pure mountain air and your eyes will be captivated by the magnificent views of Podbiel as well as the Orava River itself.
An interesting feature of this locality is the occurrence of rare alpine asters or habitat of ammonites (cephalopods).
