Bukovinka is an interesting location near Ružomberok, where there are several exsurgences and submersions that create a still living travertine hill. It is relatively little known among tourists, but for the locals, it is a rare natural asset and an ideal place to relax.
Bukovinka is made up of remarkable travertine formations, many of which create a travertine terrace or steep travertine slopes. Part of the water flows over the surface thanks to creating a waterfall with a cascading stream. The site is protected as a natural monument.
Below Bukovina, there is a cave, which is about 35 m long and represents a truly cavity, open to the surface by three holes in the upper part. Nearby is another, Bat Cave, with a length of about 25 m. It is home to a summer colony of bats - lesser horseshoe bats.
In the proximity of Bukovinka,a red-marked hiking trail leads through the valley of Nižné Matejkovo to the hill of Šiprúň. Bukovinka is also easily accessible along the cycling route Ružomberok - Korytnica.
