In connection with the reference to the Cistercians from Spišské Štiavnik, who, according to the available sources, are considered to be the founders of the village of Spišská Teplica, in 2023 calvary was created on the slopes behind the village.
The sacred place is located in an idyllic environment of a mixed forest in the southwest of the village and is accessible to hikers, cyclists, but also to visitors who come by car.
The slope on which the calvary is located has long been known as Príkra. Pilgrimage place with 14 stops, including a chapel on a steep slope, commemorates Jesus' passionand his resurrection. Individual stops are depicted by sandblasting into black granite.
Above the calvary there are unrepeatable views of the village of Spišská Teplica and its surroundings, but also of the fascinating peaks of the High Tatras, which complete the majestic backdrop of this sacred place. The smell of the forest and natural sounds create a harmonious atmosphere, which in the summer months is complemented by a pleasant coolness, providing refuge from hot summer days.
