The picturesque village of Smolenice attracts many tourists to visit a fairy tale castle or a mysterious and charming Drina cave. However, it can also offer extensive forests, meadows, pastures, or protected nature reserves and monuments, which will be particularly appreciated by hikers loving the silence and beautiful landscape panorama.
One of these tourist destinations is the natural monument of Devil's Gutter. It is also called the Rock Gutter. It is a unique geological formation and a natural canyon-like monument. In view of this, a number of karst forms can be seen here, most of which are crack grikes.
Devil's gutter lies near the meadow Vlčiareň and passes through a busy green marked two-way hiking trail towards Záruby. The starting point for hikes to the Devil's Gutter is mostly Smolenice, especially the Driny Cave, Jahodník, or Hlboča Valley. It is an undemanding hike and the distance from Smolenice is approximately 2 km.
