The Chapel of the Holy Steps was built on the order of Pavel Pálfi together with the monastery. There are three holy steps in the world. In Rome, there are the original ones along which Christ walked to Pilate's hall. Copies are located in Jerusalem and Malacca. There are twenty-seven stairs and the relics of Saints Deterius, Valentine and Blessed are kept in them.
One climbs up the stairs on the left on one's knees. During this devotion, prayers are recited and each step is kissed before entering it out of respect for the relics. The stairs on the right go straight down, there are no relics in them.
The Chapel of the Holy Steps is always open half an hour before and during of masses.
If you are interested in a visit outside opening hours, you should contact the parish office by phone.
