Throughout western Slovakia, there are scattered communities called reoptants from Ukraine, who returned to their homeland after several decades of displacement from eastern Slovakia. It was these who came to the town of Holíč.
On the outskirts of Holíč, after a decade of preparations between 2013 and 2018, the Orthodox ecclesiastical community built the Church of Our Lady of Počajevská in a classic Orthodox style with a dominant dome and typical onion-shaped turrets near the local cemetery.
You can view this picturesque temple from its outside at any time but its interior is accessible to the public only by appointment at TIC Holíč (in the Sacred Sights Tour package) during the Summer tourist season (April - September) and during European Cultural Heritage Days.
