Quarry in Banská Štiavnica is known worldwide for its rich occurrence of minerals of various types of quartz, iron and titanium. For families with children, school classes and anyone interested we have made its part available for mineralogical excursions and we also allow to search and collect minerals for your own collections. This experience is accompanied with a plenty of geological information and field demonstrations.
A basic guided tour of the quarry area takes 1.5 hours. Visit of explosives storage and individual collection of minerals from the heap are also available to visitors. Excursions to the underground spaces where quartzite caves have been discovered can be arranged individually.
The quarry can be reached by bike, by bus (stop Banská Štiavnica, Na Hájiku) or by car. We also provide food and anyone who longs for a barbecue or roasting can make use of a public fireplace.
For individual and group visits it is necessary to contact the guides in advance.
