In Slovakia, you will find many natural beauties and phenomena. One of them is the Water reservoir Pod Bukovcom located near the village of Bukovec - about 4 km west of the edge of Košice.
It was built on the Ida stream in the 1960s as a service water tank for the needs of metallurgical plant (currently US Steel). The reservoir is distinguished by extremely clean water, while its average temperature is approx. 20 ° C.
During the summer, it is the most popular place in the area, as evidenced by the numerous tourist visits and crowded shores of sunbathing holidaymakers.
Swimming and water sports such as windsurfing, boating are possible in the resort on its shore too. Or simply take the fishing rods and go fishing all day.
In the summer months, two larger beaches are available, one of which is gravel and offers sunbeds and showers.
The grass banks of the water reservoir can also be used for various leisure activities. There are playgrounds for children, traditionally equipped with carousels and climbing frames. There are also sports fields.
You can find the buffets almost everywhere around, so there is definitely no lack of delicious food and drinks.
There is also another reservoir near Bukovec, which serves as a reservoir of drinking water and is inaccessible to the public.
The beautiful wooded surroundings are a perfect place for cycling and hiking. Directly in the village, but also in the vicinity, you can stay in guest houses or cabins.
The summer season on the water reservoir usually lasts from 15 June to 15 September.
