One of the most important waterfalls that no visitor to the Tatras should miss is the Dlhý vodopád (Long waterfall). The long waterfall is one of the four waterfalls of the Studený potok (Cold Brook). Due to its unusual location, it is the lowest-lied waterfall of any brook in the High Tatras.
Long waterfall has its charm in summer and winter. It is 16 meters tall and its tremendously rushing water can be heard from afar. The long waterfall is formed by a series of rocky grades of varying inclinations, starting at an altitude of 1200 meters.
Several hiking trails lead to this Tatra waterfall. It's just up to you to choose which one best fits your condition. We recommend a 20-kilometer circular hike from Malá Studená Valley (Small Cold Valley) to Veľka Studená dolina (Great Cold Valley). The simplest route leads from Bilik's cottage to Hrebienok or from Starý Smokovec.
