The beautiful and unique landmark of the city district of Nitra - Dražovce is undoubtedly the Dražovce church, also called the Church of St. Michael the Archangel from the 12th century.
This church is the oldest Romanesque church in Slovakia. It was once the property of the Zobor monastery. This ancient sacral building is extraordinarily beautiful with its simple shape, but also with the magical atmosphere surrounding it.
The church stands high on one of the outcrops of the Tribeč Mountains. In good weather, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding vast fields, the city of Nitra, or small villages in the distance. It is also very well visible from Nitra Castle.
The Church of Dražovce is closed all year round, except for pre-announced visits, unique weddings or mass, which is held here once a year, on 29 September, when it's Michael's nameday.
The town district of Dražovce is also an important archaeological site with a Slavic settlement and a burial ground from the time of Great Moravia.
You can get here simply by public transport from Nitra and by car. Subsequently, only a slight climb to the smaller green meadow awaits you. This locality is also a sought-after place of rest for tourists who decided to climb the Zobor Hill.
