The Low Tatras gigant, Ďumbier Hill (2043 m above sea level), is the highest peak that can be overcome even if it is covered by winter ice.
It is popular not only for an unforgettable ascent, but also for a perfect circular view. From its top, you will have half of Slovakia lie open in case of good weather.
From the various corners, the peaks and hills of the mountains like Roháče, High Tatras - especially Kriváň and Gerlach peak, peaks of Low Tatras - Chopok, Chabenec and also Kraľova hoľa soar.
The ascent to Ďumbier is a moderately demanding hike, which may also be hampered by adverse weather. However, you can drive away all these clouds in alpine chalets with refreshments.
A tourist trail with a yellow mark from Mýto pod Ďumbierom leads from the south towards Ďumbier. The walkway leads through diverse terrain, places and along the paved footpath, so it is necessary to increase caution, and it is quite long. From Mýto pod Ďumbierom it is about 9 km to the top.
However, there are several ascend routes. For example, those who are physically more proficient start hiking from Liptovský Ján through the beautiful but really long Jánska valley, while others choose Čertovica as the starting point.
Ďumbier is a dignified partner of the High Tatra Mountains not only in terms of its altitude, but also in the occurrence of chamois, marmots or alpine flora.
