If you like to discover new and unrecognized corners of Slovak nature, where the time goes a little slower and everywhere is quietness disturbed only by the sounds of nature, this time your trip should start in the village of Malachov in the district of Banska Bystrica.
There are three thematically different educational and recreational trails in the village. One of them is the Ortútske Lake. The walkway is naturally focused. As the name implies, the most beautiful stop of this educational trail will be the Ortútske Lake.
The lake is unique in our conditions due to its origin - landslip and flood of field depression. The locals also called it mine eye or sea eye. Its historical roots date back to the Middle Ages, when mining activity was exuberant. The Ortútske Lake is set in beautiful surroundings, enclosed by lush vegetation.
The educational trail is undemanding and leads through forest paths and routes. It is possible to combine the individual routes of Malachov educational paths. Certain sections are also suitable for cycling. You can set off from Malachov - Ortúty, from where the lake is about 3 kilometers away.
