Mining history enthusiasts can view rare exhibits as well as photographs and documents from the time of active mining activity in Spiš through the extended exhibition from the collections of the Slovak Technical Museum. The exhibition is located in the building of the Multifunctional Energy and Mining Center (Multicentrum) in Spišská Nová Ves.
Visitors have the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of 34 mining towns and villages in Spiš, to learn how mining in the Spiš region took place since the 14th century, and to present a unique presentation of 34 coats of arms of mining towns and villages in Spiš.
The cherry on the cake,with which you can finish the tour, is going down the shaft to Michal's school gallery under the lighting of mining lanterns and accompanied by a mining technician. It is necessary to register for this tour in advance as well as if you are interested in professional lectures.
The History of mining in Spiš exposition includes also a permanent exhibition Collection of minerals representing more than 1300 pieces of samples from Slovakia, Czech Republic and 23 countries of the world.
