The Forestry and Woodworking Museum in Zvolen is located in the historic premises of town houses, which are a national cultural monument. Until 1992, the museum focused primarily on the homeland issues of the Zvolen region. With the acquisition of the forestry and timber collection from the Museum in Svätý Anton, it began to focus mainly on forestry and timber documentation throughout Slovakia.
In 2008, the museum was attached to the state enterprise FORESTS of the Slovak Republic. The museum has more than 51,000 objects in its funds from forestry, timber, mycology, history, archeology, numismatics and ethnography.

In addition to permanent exhibitions, the Forestry and Woodworking Museum in Zvolen regularly organizes exhibitions and various competitions for pupils and students. Part of the museum is also a specialized library, which collects more than 16,000 titles of specialized literature.
