In the beautiful village of Jelenec, near Nitra, there is a ground baroque mansion. It was built in 1722 by Bishop Paul IV. Forgach. The Forgach family lived and stayed there until the end of World War II. This noble family is relatively important for Slovak history, and therefore a permanent exhibition of the Museum of the Forgach Family was established here in 2009.
The museum presents a wide range of life stories of the Forgachs who have been performing in our history for more than eight centuries. You can admire portraits of prominent members of this family and you can also see archaeological finds from the castle Gýmeš, which was their oldest family residence.
In addition, the ethnographic collection of the Cultural and Social Union of Hungarians in Slovakia, Csemadok, is installed in the first room of the mansion. The hall of the mansion is a kind of exhibition hall, where occasional exhibitions are held.
