The funicular railway from Starý Smokovec to Hrebienok is a funicular, whose cabins are driven by a tow rope. After a single-track 2 km long runway, two wagons are always on their way against each other and they bypass each other in the middle of the track on a short bifurcated section.
It has been in operation since 1908. New modern rolling stocks were purchased and put into operation in 2007, but the memory of the old ones invokes a feeling of pleasant nostalgia in many people.
A ride by funicular to Hrebienok is definitely an experience for both young and old.
In the winter season, sledding along a 2.5 kilometer illuminated track from Hrebienok to Starý Smokovec is also a popular attraction.
