West of Štrbske pleso, there is a beautiful Furkotska Valley of glacial origin. It is relatively narrow and has a terraced character. Furkotská valley is bordered by the very popular ridges of Ostrá and Solisko hills, and at the end of it, there is the majestic Furkotský Peak.
Furkotská Valley is about 5.5 kilometers long and in each of its sections offers a beautiful nature with spectacular scenery, which is made even more special due to bickering Furkotský stream. By crossing the Furkostská Valley, you will change the dense coniferous forest to the scrub or the alpine meadows.
The biggest jewel of the Furkotska Valley are its mountain lakes. At the bottom, there are two Furkotské lakes and one nameless. As you climb up, you will discover the smaller Lower Wahlenberg Lake and the larger Upper Wahlenberg Lake, just about 100 meters higher.
With rising altitude meters, Furkotská Valley offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills as well as impressive depths. The most advantageous starting point for hikes to the Furkotská Valley is Štrbské Pleso along the red or yellow marked hiking trail.
