Gavurky - a unique place that attracts not only tourists but also scientists. It is an oak grove that extends near the village of Dobrá Niva near Zvolen.
The uniqueness of this oak grove lies in the fact that it is a preserved original pasture forest (Pannonian grove). Up to 600 unique, massive and old oaks have survived centuries standing on the vast area.
Each oak is unique in its shape - they can be straight, curled, braided and sloping. But together they create a fairy-tale forest. The site is a protected area of European importance.
The forest was excavated several times and survived the invasions of Soviet troops as well. This is the place where they had underground-built rooms that we can still find here. Gavurky Pannonian Grove is recommended if you want to spend your free time in a pleasant way. You can also stroll here or just relax in the shade of majestic oak trees.
Gavurky Pannonian Grove is easily accessible. The road leads from Dobrá Niva towards Sása or from Podskalka. You can go on foot, by bike or by car on a field road, but before the first oaks, you need to park your car and go on foot anyway.
