Description
From the town of Ružomberok and its surroundings, the Great Fatra Mountains are the best accessible for tourism. In its northeastern edge, there is a patulous dolomite cliff called the Great Rock. No less popular Sidorovo Hill lines this rock from the south.
The Great rock is characterized by its sharp rocky ridge, which is easily accessible even though it looks quite wild from afar. The mighty cliff provides fantastic near-circular views from its peaks. In clear weather, you can admire part of the Greater Fatra, Little Fatra with dominant hills of Stoh and Veľký Rozsutec as well as Low Tatras with Salatín hill.
You can include the Great Rock as part of the hike from Ružomberok to Sidorovo Hill and from there to Vlkolinec. Or from centre of Ružomberok itself, from the municipal office along the red-marked route (about 4 km).
