The borders of Slovakia and the Czech Republic are also formed by the beautiful ridges of the White Carpathians. One of them is the hill called Veľký Lopeník (Greater Lopeník), which represents a symbol of brotherhood between the Czechs and Slovaks.
The great attraction of this hill is of course the outlook tower, which is built here. It reaches a height of 22 meters and its construction is remarkable. From the viewing platform, you can enjoy a nice circular view of the surrounding mountains of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
At the bottom of the observation tower, there is also a small shop where you can buy souvenirs or have a chilled beer.
The surroundings are really beautiful and arranged. You can lay out and relax a bit in the grass or on wooden benches.
Veľký Lopeník was also the site of the fighting during World War II. Besides the lookout tower, you will find a memorial to the soldiers who died here.
There are** marked hiking trails** from Nová Bošáca (about 4km) or from the Moravian side of the border. The ascent is not difficult and can be managed even by an average tourist or children.
