Description
The Greater Plešivec is proof that even the lower hills can offer magical wandering through the forest.
This highest peak of the Čachtice Carpathians is located above the villages of Čachtice and Hrachovište. From its northeastern part it is wooded and the southeast slopes are formed by a forest steppe, which is a haven of several isolated thermophilous species of plants and animals.
Plešivec is a popular tourist destination all year round. Obviously because of the fact that it is a very pleasant and undemanding tourism. From the summit, you can enjoy impressive views of the surrounding countryside, the Váh Valley and Považský Inovec.
However, in addition to tourism, the hill is a pilgrimage site too. In 1923, the Iron Cross with the image of Jesus Christ was erected here, which is still standing today.
Several marked hiking trails lead you to Greater Plešivec, such as from the Čachtice Castle (5km), Hrachovište (2km) or Šípkové (Vrbové).
