Description

The eastern edge of the Záruby ridge in the Little Carpathians is bounded by the rocky Havrania skala (Raven Rock). The boulder is especially popular among climbers, but hikers have something to admire here too. The Raven Rock is situated above the village of Smolenice with a fairytale Smolenice castle.

The majestic limestone rock represents an unpretentious ascent, along which you can enjoy beautiful views of the Danube Lowland and the Little Carpathians from its top parts. There is a commemorative plaque of the Trnava climber Ľuboš Stach righ on the rock.

The ideal starting point for a hike to the Raven Rock is the Smolenice railway station (approx. 2.5 km away). From there, you will follow the yellow tourist sign first and then you will join the red Štefánik's Railway below the Raven Rock.

After reaching Raven Rock, you can continue along the ridge to the top of Havranica and then descend along the forest path to the Čertov žľab (Devil's Gutter) saddle and then to the meadow saddle to Smolenice Castle and the railway station.
