Monumental 80-meter high rocky walls set in a quiet forest environment. This is what describes Hermanovské Rocks, which are part of the largest volcanic mountain range in eastern Slovakia - Slanské Hills.
Hermanovské Rocks are formed by two andesite complexes - Falcon Rocks and Raven Rocks. Their gigantic rock walls fall into the valley of the Old Stream, and the entire landscape-attractive complex has been given the popular name - the Valley of the Giants.
The Rocks have been a nature reserve since 1980, which, in addition to its natural value, also protects rare species of flora and fauna, especially several rare birds of prey nesting here.
If you decide to climb this andesite complex, be prepared to see that the very top of the rocks is accessible only by an unofficial sidewalk. Therefore, you will have to climb a steep and slippery terrain here. However, you will be rewarded with the magnificent view of the Ondavská Highlands, the Slanské Hills, or the nearby Falcon Rock Wall.
The Hermanovské Rocks Nature Reserve is open to the public by the blue-marked hiking trail from Hermanovce nad Topľou, but it can also be accessed from the opposite side, from the village of Zlatá Baňa.
