In the very heart of Rožňava is the historical exposition of the mining museum, which is located in the attractive building of the former Marko manufactory for the production of leather. This manufactory was once one of the most prosperous in Hungary. The building, which today serves as a museum, has its roots in 1782, when it was built by rebuilding two one-story tannery houses.
The exposition of the museum itself offers a view of over 6000 collection items and provides visitors with the opportunity to get acquainted with the rich history of the Gemer region. Interactive exhibits bring a vivid picture of the way of life of its inhabitants in the past and reveal fascinating connections and stories that are connected to this region.
