Hladký Hill is a charming two thousander situated in the main ridge of the High Tatras. It is characterized by its typical steep slopes, which alternate grassland with rough rocky terrain. Hladký Hill is often referred to as Hladký Peak.
It lies between the peaks of Kotolnica and Valentová. Although it is the lowest peak of the site, it is popular among Tatra tourists because of good accessibility as well as beautiful circular views. The climb is not too strenuous, but it is rather lengthy. From the tourist-marked Hladké Saddle the peak is only 10 minutes on foot. As this terrain is not marked, it is not accessible to tourists.
You can get to Hladké Saddle by the red tourist route from Tichá dolina (about 5km), where you can also get by bike. You can also go from Podbanské (about 14km) or from Tri studničky (about 13km). Hladký Hill lies on the border with Poland, but from the Polish side, the route is closed and the climb is completely forbidden.
