In the middle of a housing estate with blocks of flats in the town of Šaľa, there is a picturesque peasant house with a courtyard dating from the first half of the 19th century. Today, this Italian house of folk housing is a historical monument, in which the interior is an exhibition of folk dwelling of the Ponitrie Museum in Nitra.
In the peasant's house, there is a front room, followed by a pit with a separate kitchen, a back room, a chamber, a barn and a shed. Exhibitions, creative workshops for children, youth and adults, concerts of historical and folk music are held in the premises of the House of Folk Dweeling in Šaľa.
The house, furnishings and equipment come from Šala and its surroundings and they form part of the Slovak cultural heritage, thanks to which it is possible to introduce the environment in which our ancestors lived.
