Arboretum in Liptovský Hrádok is unique not only within Slovakia, but also within Europe. Not only is it one of the oldest and highest arboretum, but there is also a charming linden alley, which is ideal for walks and relaxation.
The Arboretum was built in 1777, when the first 200 linden trees were planted, which later formed the basis of a decorative English park and a forest botanical park. At present, there are about 740 woody taxons in the Arboretum of Liptovský Hrádok.
The Arboretum has been divided into several specific zones from the past to the present day:
Arboretum serves as a visual object of students at a forestry school and last but not least, it also serves as a natural museum with an effort to save disappearing and rare tree species. Asphalt pavements and benches are built in the area.
