A characteristic historical building of the town of Modra is the rotunda bastion of the city fortifications from the 17th century. In the past, it formed the defense system of the city together with the upper gate and the city fortifications. Since 1994, it has been the seat of the Ignác Bizmayer Gallery, which is part of the Slovak National Museum - Museum of Ľudovít Štúr in Modra and the Museum of Slovak Ceramic Sculpture.
The gallery presents a representative selection of works by Ignác Bizmayer. A substantial part of the exhibited works are mainly his top figural work and ceramic sculpture based on folk art. Ceramist and artist Ignác Bizmaeyer was a renowned name not only in Slovakia but also abroad. His works are decorated with collections of many private collectors, museums and galleries.
