Description
In the village of Dolná Strehová, in a beautiful park landscaped area, there is a Mansion of Imre Madách. In this rococo-classicist building, the writer I. Madách once lived and created. The manor house is part of the heritage of the Hungarians as well as of the whole of Europe.
Today, the Museum of Hungarian Culture in Slovakia makes available to the general public its permanent exhibition of the writer and playwright Imre Madách and writers who were born, lived and created in the region. The manor house is furnished with original furniture and personal items documenting the life and work of the writer.
The first part of the new memorial exhibition in the Madách family mansion in Dolná Strehovová presents life in the manor house in the 19th century. The second part "The Tragedy of Man" highlights the most important ideas from all 15 paintings of Madách's work.
The basement area of the mansion, where a vaulted guest room with a museum-educational animator, a small stage and a conference room is created in the chamber vaulted rooms.
Near the mansion in the park, there is the tomb of the writer I. Madách. 3.6 m high statue - Soul of man longing for the sky - is installed on its top.
