The largest city of Eastern Slovakia, Košice, is surrounded by beautiful Slovak Ore Mountains with very attractive localities and many natural beauties. One such location is located between villages of Kysak and Veľká Lodina.
It is Jánošík's Bastion - limestone rock, which is popular not only with tourists but also with climbers. The rock stands out from the wooded ridge of the Volovské Hills. Thanks to this, it offers a beautiful and indescribable view of the Hornád valley, Humenec, the Košice-Bohumín railway line, the panorama of the KysackCastle and the Slanské Hills.
At the same time, the surroundings of Jánošík's Bastion provide several nice places to relax, rest, picnic in the nature or rock climbing. From the top rocks of Jánošík's Bastion, you can continue along the ridge to the Stádlo spot height and then along the pleasant walkway to the ruins with nice views to Vysoký Hill and Bílá skála (White Rock) on the left side.
The hike to Jánošík's Bastion is not difficult. There are marked hiking trails from the villages of Kysak - railway station (about 3 km) and Veľká Lodina (about 5 km).
