Jazierske travertines were declared a natural monument in 1952. It is a rare geomorphological form of travertine terrace with rare evidence of the development of living nature in Post-Tertiary.
It lies at the entrance to the Hlboká Valley over the Biely Potok - the local part of the town of Ružomberok from where the asphalt road and the marked cycling trail lead here. There is a creek immersed in a limestone base in a length of about 250 m, creating a distinctive travertine terrace with rare species of flora.
Jazierke travertines possesses much charm in every season. In the summer, the water softly sprinkles, and rare plant species embrace them, and in winter, the ice creates spectacular works of art.
In addition to the travertine lakes, the site also features interesting stone formations, a waterfall or a cave hole, from which a hum of water running under the ground can be heard.
In addition, the surroundings of the Jaziersky travertines are also rich in cycling trails, using which you can get, for example, to the nearby village of Vlkolínec or via red marked trail from Donovaly even to city of Ružomberok.
