Július Barta's Municipal Gallery is housed in the building of the former Great Municipal Inn. According to locals, this is the most beautiful and most exposed place of the city, because it is located in the pedestrian zone lined by centuries-old plane trees.
The gallery is named after the local academic painter Július Barta, who is known mainly for the original industrial motifs of southern Slovakia and the Danube Lowland. The activities of the gallery are provided by the Municipal Cultural Center. The gallery is an active venue for the cultural life of Štúrovo.
Every month, art lovers can find a new exhibition of art from Slovakia or abroad in the gallery. The Július Barta's Municipal Gallery exhibits not only the works of professional authors, but also offers space for the newcomers to come into the limelight.
