This museum is one of the largest regional museums in Slovakia and offers visitors a varied range of exhibitions, with a special focus on the history of paper production in Slovakia and the personality of Andrej Hlinka.
The museum is housed in a representative building built in the 1930s. The Liptov Museum has a local history and its rich collection consists of 180,000 collection items, which are presented to visitors through several permanent exhibitions.
The geological composition, typical fauna and flora of the region is mapped by the expositions of geology, paleontology, botany and zoology. The exhibition of archeology is traditionally devoted to the oldest settlement of Liptov. In the exhibition of feudalism, visitors can admire examples of medieval weapons and knight equipment, or a cap attributed to the legendary Juraj Jánošík.
Equally interesting exhibits await visitors in the exposition of Liptov history 1848-1945, exposition on life and work of Andrej Hlinka, ethnographic exposition, exposition of sacral art and exposition on history of paper production.
In the attic of the museum, there is the latest exhibition of the Sacred Art Gallery installed, which includes a rare late Gothic altar of the Crown of Our Lady of All Saints Church in Ludrová.
