Description
The time required is approx. 1 hour.

Litterra is a museum unlike any other – here, no one will scold you for touching the exhibits. In fact, at Litterra, it's encouraged! In this interactive museum of stories, children become part of fairytales and journey to the stars. You will find not only knowledge but also experiences that you won't want to leave behind. This unique space was created by revitalizing the historic First Slovak Grammar School in Revúca.

The museum space is divided into four pavilions, allowing you to explore the stories of words, writing, images, and even reach the stars.

  • In the beginning, the word - the first pavilion is a pavilion dedicated to sound. It focuses mostly on audio-experience and hearing perception, because the stories and fairy tales were first served orally. For example, you will listen to the sound recordings of authentic folk narrators.

  • Try out different forms of writing - in the pavilion dedicated to the scriptures, works, feels, plays, draws and educates. In addition to the rune, wedge fonts, you can create with ink, write on tables with chalk, write on typewriters and on machines for blind. This pavilion is also adapted to workshops for all schools and all age groups.

You will see what you have not seen - the painting pavilion shows works of art, an unconventional illustrative design of the fairy tale Popolvár, a comic perceived through the party games or a graphic novel projected on various materials.

In the attic you can get to the stars - the sci -fi concept of the star in the attic of the building will draw you into the world of the universe. The pavilion is dedicated to the work of "Hviezdoved", a book by Revúca-born Gustáv Reuss, written seven years before Jules Verne's world-famous "From the Earth to the Moon". It certainly deserves its own space in the museum of stories. In the novel, the protagonist Krutohlav travels in a giant hot air balloon from Muráň straight to the Moon, experiencing various adventures along the way. Whether he succeeded and what he encountered can be discovered when you visit this pavilion.

Litterra is a place where not only families but also all schools – from elementary to university level – can have fun. They can hold unconventional lessons on topics like the Slovak language, literature, geography, and history, and participate in workshops in the writing pavilion.

Whether you're planning a family weekend or an educational school trip full of experiences, Litterra in Revúca is the perfect destination. Don't hesitate, embark on a journey of discovery!
