The lookout tower at Maginhrad is one of the newly built lookout towers in Slovakia. It stands on a hill of the same name at an altitude of 430 meters and thanks to its height of 16 meters, it is the highest observation tower of the Malohont region.
The mysterious hill of Maginhrad used to be inhabited. There used to be a medieval wooden castle from the 15th century that served as a Hussite fortress. Nowadays, tourists can enjoy beautiful and wide views from these places - from Kráľova hoľa and the whole of Rimavská Valley to Hungary.
At the top of Maginhrad, you will also find several wooden statues and a wooden sculpture of a chalice, which refer to the ancient legend of the knights who allegedly sleep in its bowels. You can find a place to relax by the fireplace, which is located directly below the lookout tower.
The hill of Maginhrad can be accessed from three sides - Horné Zahorany, Nižný Skálnik and Veľke Teriakovce. There are easy hiking trails, as well as a nature trail - “In the Footsteps of Maginhrad”.
