Description
In 2013, a new recreation park was built in the village of Kravany nad Dunajcom, in the immediate vicinity of the Danube pound lock. Its part is also a somewhat unusual lookout tower.
The circular tourist lookout tower is made of wood and steel. It is 17 meters high and there are 90 stairs leading to the observation platform. Due to its altitude, only 108 m above sea level, it is one of the lowest situated observation towers in Slovakia.
The observation platform offers beautiful views of the Danube panorama. Very beautiful view of the glittering surface of the Danube will be appreciated especially at sunrise and sunset. You will also love the view of the surrounding villages and Pilišské or Vyšehradské Hills.
The international cycling route Eurovelo leads around the lookout tower, so we recommend the location not only to pedestrians but also to cyclists. The park area also includes a children's playground or benches under patulous treetops.
The observation tower can be reached by car or by bus and then it is just a few minutes' walk to the recreation park near the pound lock.
