The older generations would surely remember the legendary movie Jánošík, where the outstanding actor Paľo Bielik was starring. In those times, the film props of the gallows stood on the hill Oblaz, where the cinematographic Slovak national hero, Juraj Jánošík, lost his life.
Today, you can find the outlook tower called Terchovské srdce (The Heart of Terchová) there. The new lookout tower is the last stop of a long-existing educational trail, which is focused on discovering the fauna and flora of the National Park Little Fatra.
You can see the observation tower already when entering the village of Terchová from the direction from Žilina. The tower was designed by Alojz Mucha. About 1 km long, unpretentious hiking trail, which starts in the center of Terchova, leads right up to the lookout tower and can be handled by tourist of all ages.
The lookout tower Terchovské srdce is 30 meters high. There is a narrow staircase which must be climbed to reach the top of the tower. The observation tower itself features 3 terraces that offer impressive views of the surrounding countryside.
Especially the silhouettes of the hills like Rozsutec, Bobota, Tiesňava or Obšívanky and Sokolie will become a feast for your soul and eyes.
In addition to the observation tower, Oblaz Hill is also known as a reverent place. It is a spot where many historical events have taken place, which are full of emotions, nostalgia and symbolism.
Lookout tower is open all year round.
