The Ľudovít Štúr Museum in Modra is part of the Slovak National Museum. It has its seat in the very center of the town, in the so-called Emreszovský House. It was right in this house that Ľudovít Štúr spent much time raising his brother's sons. In 1851, he moved to Modra and in 1856 he unfortunatelly also died in this house.
The museum has an exposition of Ľudovít Štúr - from studies to deeds, which presents a cross-section of the life and works of Ľ. Štúr set in specific historical context. This important personality is also represented from his personal and human side through the testimonies of his contemporaries, the present view of the scientific and professional public. In addition to unique personal items of Ľ. Štúr, also personal objects of Jozef Miloslav Hurban and Ján Kalinčiak can be seen here.
The Museum is also Memorial Room of Ľ. Štúr, which recalls the last years of his life in Modra and the circumstances of his tragic death. The exhibition aims to bring the atmosphere and environment in which Štúr moved. It captures the clothes in which people walked in the streets, the sounds of the street, forms of travel from stagecoaches to the railways, ways of communication, approaches the 19th century school and furnishings of town houses.
The Museum of Ľudovít Štúr in Modra also manages two other extended exhibitions:
Museum of Slovak Ceramic Sculpture - exposition of Modra ceramic production.
Ignác Bizmayer's Gallery - represents a representative selection from the masterpiece of figural ceramic creation.
