




Malachov Rocks are a protected area about 4 km from Banska Bystrica, near Radvaň. This interesting rock formation is a distinctive landmark.
We can find here small rocky cliffs, rock walls, various depressions and trays filled with rain water. The site is also known for its rare thermophilic fauna and flora of European importance. You can also enjoy the impressive view of Banská Bystrica, Urpín and the surrounding mountains from the Malachov Rocks.
The historical point of interest of this locality is that since the 17th century, high-quality gunpowder has been produced here, which was used in mining in the surrounding area.
Malachov Rocks can be reached by bus from Banska Bystrica towards Malachov, you can get off at Stupy bus stop and from there, you can go to the rocks for about half an hour by an unmarked trail. The trip is unpretentious and can be managed by the smallest children or older ones.
