Count Julius Andrassy chose the romantic setting of the Trebišov park on the shore of an artificial lake as his last resting place. The mausoleum of this important politician, statesman and landlord has been standing here since 1893 and is one of the most valuable protected cultural monuments in Trebišov.
Count Andrássy died in 1890 and was first buried in the crypt of the local Roman Catholic church. His remains were placed in the mausoleum only in 1894. Physical remains of his wife and their son Teodor Andrássy were placed in the marble sarcophagus.
The beautiful mausoleum was designed by the German architect Arthur Meining in the neo-Gothic style. The interior decoration is dominated by a replica of the painting "Crying under the Cross" by M. Munkácsy, an angel statue, a neo-Gothic altar and a bronze sculpture of a woman kneeling on a canopy depicting her daughter Helena.
