Description
In 1945, there were many tragic events that took place during World War II fights. One of the saddest happened by the Lime kiln near the village of Nemecká.
This is the place where, in January 1945, the fascists and members of the Hlinka Guard's emergency squad executed and burned about 900 participants of the Slovak National Uprising, anti-fascists and racially persecuted people.
Today,there is the Memorial of Nemecká, also known as the Memorial to the Martyrs. There is also an exposition called "Reprisals of Nazis and Hlinka Guard's emergency squad in Slovakia in the years 1944-1945" with various interesting showpieces in the place of the memorial near the village of Nemecká.
This reverent place, along with the Slovak National Uprising Museum's exposition, has regular opening hours. However, entries to the museum must be booked in advance by telephone on tel. no. 0918 899 433. Admission is just symbolic.
