If you want to get to know the folk culture and traditions of South Záhorie, the Michal Tillner Museum is the right place for you. It is located in Malacky in the building of the City Culture Center on Záhorácká Street.
This museum was founded in 1975 by the academic painter Michal Tillner and was located in a reconstructed water mill building at that time.
The museum houses collections of ethnographic, artistic and archival materials. At the beginning of the exhibition, you will be welcomed by visual and textual documentation of the history of the Plavecmanor, the town of Malacky, crafts, culture and town life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The center of the exhibition is an interesting "Záhorácka izba", which is a room showing the way of folk living in the past together with the equipment of the facility. Many lovers of carving will certainly appreciate the smoothness and precision of the processing of individual pieces of historical wooden furniture and special purpose equipment.
The museum also includes an extended exposition - the Crypts under the Franciscan Church of the Immaculate Conception, which can be visited upon phone or e-mail booking at least one day in advance.
