Mičinské travertines are a national natural monument along the road between the villages of Čerín and Dolná Mičiná. It belongs to important travertine sites in Slovakia.
Narrow, inward overhanging mounds have been formed around the mineral springs rising from the ground. Some have a loaf and flat-conical shape.
Mičinské travertines resemble some pits or rather small craters or lakes of travertine, from which mineral water flows out. They are unique not only because of their rich orange colour, but also because travertines are still alive, thus, the travertine formation is constantly ongoing.
There is also an educational trail and a small shelter with a seating area and a spring is modified so that you can take the mineral water into bottles.
The travertines can be reached easily by car, which can be parked in the parking lot before entrance to this protected site.
