The main ridge of Krivánská Little Fatra is dominated by a large hill, called Poludňový Grúň. It is one of the most famous and very popular peaks in the area.
It offers excellent tourism during the warm months, although it is to be expected that you will be able to overcome the great elevations on the route. In winter, its slopes turn into a ski resort, but it is also a paradise for skialpinists.
Below the summit of Poludňový Grúň, there is a cottage called Chata na Grúni, where you can refresh yourself and recharge your energy in preparation to climb to the top. This section of the route is the steepest and therefore the most demanding. The tour lasts about 5 hours and its length is 12 km.
From the top of Poludňový Grúň, you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding but also distant peaks. After climbing the summit, you can continue along the ridge to the nearby Chleb Hill, where the red hiking trail leads to Snilovske sedlo.
The most frequent starting point for trips to this area is the parking lot in Vrátna Valley or the settlement of Štefanová. During the winter, the cottached can be reached by a cable car too.
