One of the most important archaeological sites of Kyjatice culture is located above the village of Kyjatice. The people of Kyjatice culture were characterized by the ritual burning of the dead, and therefore they left behind many burial burials in the form of so-called trash urnfields. More than 200 urn graves were discovered here.
In the vicinity of this rare archaeological site, there is a monument to the people of Kyjatice culture in the form of mini archaeological open-air museum. It is located on a small, nicely landscaped meadow, where one can see a reconstructed burial line, stone cairns, a grave, and replicas of archaeological finds.
The location is suitable not only for exploring this ancient culture, but also for taking pleasant trips in the surrounding countryside. Tourism in this part of the Slovak Ore Mountains is really undemanding. For example, Small Drienčanská Cave will show you its beauty in the nearby village of Drienčany.
