The Liptov village of Važec is one of the few that can boast their own museum. But this one in Važec is truly something special. The Museum of Folk Traditions originated in the premises of the birthplace of Ján Kováč.
The house was built in 1760 as the first brick storeyed house in the village. The house is also called the "Mansion" and its spacious interior keeps a number of exhibits documenting the history and original way of life, customs and habits of the inhabitants of the village.
The individual rooms of the museum offer a view of various crafts and craft tools, a home with traditional furniture, as well as traditional folk costumes and many other, precious objects that remember ancient times.
